Who can nominate?

We are looking for nominations from innovative projects or initiatives that are benefiting communities socially, environmentally or financially.

Nominations can be:
  • Innovative ideas working in practice, to the benefit of the community.
  • An idea involving the innovative application of technology or new processes.
  • Small business projects that increase investment into the local community.
  • Projects that take a responsible approach to the environment in which they are operating.
  • In any area of enterprise.
  • Organised by a company, project group, a non-profit organisation or an individual.
  • A school project, a community initiative or a small business set to grow.
Nominations CANNOT be:
  • Projects developed by a company with a turnover of more than US $20m per annum
  • Projects with more than 50% financing from an intergovernmental or a bilateral development assistance agency such as the United Nations of the European Community or a government or public sector body
  • A drawing board idea – we need to see that something is happening
  • Projects run by employees of the BBC, Newsweek, and any agencies working for the BBC or any of the panel members
  • Any of the 12 finalist projects from the World Challenge competitions held in 2005 and 2006.

What can you win?

One representative from each of the final three projects will be flown to The Hague, The Netherlands for the award ceremony.
