VAVA COFFEE PROJECT BLOG

DAY ONE of filming was when I got to meet the cool, calm and collected Steve Hobbs, the World Challenge producer sent to film my sustainable coffee company in Kenya. I say cool, calm, and collected due to the filming experience we had in the Kibera slums and even under immense pressure both with the environment we were in plus the fact that it was pouring rain the whole time. This man was relaxed and as cool as a cucumber throughout the entire shoot.

The first day was definitely a big eye opener to show how rigorous and intense the next couple of days would most likely be - especially given most of our filming locations were out of town.  With the Nairobi traffic plus the long hours we were keeping, Vava Coffee definitely came in handy and of course I took every opportunity to offer it to everyone that we met. And I went even further to give Steve lots of tips and information on the different blends we drank each day.

I must say after the four-day filming period I have a new appreciation for any filmmaker, director, producer, and basically anyone who is in the film making business. It is definitely very hard work when you are filming outdoors but must be very rewarding once you achieve the purpose and get an amazing documentary out of it.

I've gotta say it was definitely one of those experiences I have really enjoyed & loved being a part of. My team and I all enjoyed working with Steve, the man is definitely a real pro at his work!!
